AVALOKITESVARA
Description
In this very fine thangka, Avalokitesvara is seen in his 4-armed form, holding a rosary, a lotus and the cintamani, or "wish-fulfilling jewel" . Avalokitesvara is also known as Sadaksari, "Lord of the six syllables", due to his connection with one of the most sacred mantras, the six-syllabled "Om Mani Padme Hum", found enclosed in the prayer wheels in Tibetan monasteries.
